Freckled with picture-perfect fishing villages and lively ports, the Costa Calida is a 250 km stretch of heaven with seemingly infinite stretches of white sand beaches that seamlessly blend into the Costa Almeria.
Almeria - Almeria is a province of great diversity. Described as one of Spain’s natural jewels, nature has studded the province with fingers of mountains that surround sparkling coastal alcoves before they dip into the sea. The capitol city of Almeria is Almeria City.
Albox - The small town of Albox is probably one of the fastest growing areas in Almeria. Nestled between the Sierra de las Estancias and the Sierra de los Filabres mountain ranges, Albox is surrounded by olive groves and orchards fragrant with the scents of oranges and lemons. A main attraction is the weekly market where you can buy everything from produce to livestock to handcrafted treasures.
Arboleas - Like the neighboring Albox, Arboleas has a strong agricultural economy. Along with citrus orchards and olive groves, Almond trees and fields of wheat and barley dress its fertile plains.
Mojacar - Home to an International artists' colony, the Fundacion Valparaiso, Mojacar has one of the highest expatriate populations in Spain.
A sun-lovers haven, an average temperature of 20° C nearly makes autumn melt into spring, almost entirely bypassing winter. The town, Mojacar Pueblo sits on a hilltop overlooking the coastline, Mojacar Playa, a panorama of more than 17km of sun swept beaches, just two km from the town.
Zurgena - Just 25 minutes inland is the village of Zurgena, which comes alive each August with one of the most entertaining festivals in the area. Closely partnered with the village of La Alfoquia, together these siblings offer a range of amenities that make the British expat feel right at home.
